Croton Gold Dust Broad Leaf Live Tropical Plant Vivid Color Golden Yellow Indoor or Outdoor 4 Inch Pot Starter Size

Codiaeum variegatum or Crotons are large species of tropical shrubs with variegated-colored leaves native to Malaysia and the Eastern Pacific Rim. There are thousands of different varieties, and they are the perfect choice to brighten up a shady garden spot or sprinkle around in pots anywhere a dash of brilliant color and/or texture is wanted.

Crotons work great in pots and dish gardens and can be overwintered indoors in colder climates or grown as an interior houseplant. However, they generally require supplemental lighting and temperature adjustments above average room temperatures. Crotons are also frequently grown as annuals or incorporated into seasonal mixed garden pots.

The Gold Dust Croton is an old heirloom Croton with medium-sized strapped leaves that grow close and tight to the stem. Although crotons produce flowers, they are small, nondescript, beige to cream single tufted blossoms that are interesting but not particularly showy. As the name suggests, the leaves of Gold Dust are a bright medium green and appear to have dusted with bright golden yellow specks and splashes.

It is a moderately quick-growing, small-statured croton that will reach a mature height of only about three (3) feet. It is easily maintained smaller if desired. The Gold Dust Croton lends contrast and texture to lightly shaded gardens and can be adapted to grow indoors or incorporated in garden pots and dish gardens. The variegation will vary with the age of the growth, available light, temperature, and nutrition.
