Gardenia Dwarf Radicans Miniature Live Plant Low Grower Fragrant White Flowers Starter

Gardenias are usually near the top of mosts lists when it comes to the combination of beauty of fragrance, The Dwarf Gardenia or Gardenia 'Radicans' has most of the best features of the species, plus a few additional attractive characteristics. It is has low-growing, spreading, bushy, branched, horizontal growth habit, is a prolific seasonal bloomer, with small, densely doubled fragrant white flowers, but also throws scattered flowers throughout the year, and performs well in light shade or full sun.

Dwarf Radicans Gardenias reach a low mature height of only about one to two feet, and grows dense and tight, with short branches, clothed in opposing pairs of small, sharply pointed, elongated oval leaves in dark, glossy green. The small flowers begin as sharply pointed buds born at the terminal ends of branches and unfurl into small, 1 1/2 to 2 inch, densely doubled flowers in a long cycle lasting from late Spring thru mid Summer. Radicans is more tolerant of high summer heat than many others, but as a trade off is much less tolerant of cold.

Few plants are its equal for versatility, ease of care and growing rewards. It can be mass planted, used as a border, incorporated into mixed perennial and shade gardens, or grown as a potted plant. Note that gardenias are not recommended for growing as interior plants year round.
