Nepenthes miranda is is a man-made hybrid of N. maxima and N. northiana. The interesting orange, brown and peach colored 'pitchers' can grow to be more than a foot long.

The lower pitchers will become the largest and most brightly colored, often turning red in high-light conditions. It is tolerant a wide range of temperatures but must be maintained above freezing at all times. It has a vining habit and can be grown in a sunroom or conservatory or near a sunny window. This plant's pitchers will put out tendrils and grasp onto nearby plants and objects if left to their own devices.

Typically found in poor non-fertile soils, pitcher plants developed the ability to attract and trap insects in their 'pitchers' and digest them to supplement their diet. The 'pitcher' is an adaptation of the leaf structure. The insect is lured to the pitcher by the smell of nectar. Once inside it cannot climb back up the waxy interior and slips down into the puddle of digestive juice in the bottom of the pitcher.
