Crown of Thorns is the common name for the large plant species Euphorbia milii, which consists of many forms of spiny, succulent shrubs that resemble cacti, but are not. Plants of this species are actually more closely related to poinsettias than they are to cacti.


Roller Rink Pink is a unique cultivar selected from a Euphorbia milii hybrid, Rosie Glow. It was originally noticed as an odd plant among a group of Rosie Glows due to several unique features that set it apart.

It shares a short, compact growth habit but grows taller and more slowly, reaching a mature height of 2-3 feet. The flowers are a brighter, clearer shade of pink with the same luminous glow that is a hallmark of Rosie Glow. We came to call it Roller Rink Pink because the vibrant, luminous pink of the thick, rounded bracts evoked a nostalgic, fun, retro feel reminiscent of the flashy, glow-in-the-dark skater skirts that were popular in the 80s.

Roller Rink Pink blooms continuously, although it is technically imprecise to call the colored, fleshy bracts "flowers." The true flowers are the greenish-yellow centers, while the colorful bracts that surround the center are a form of leaf tissue that changes color-the same behavior seen in many other plants, such as poinsettias and bougainvilleas.

Like most plants of the species, it requires only basic care to grow and thrive. Mature plants prefer full, direct sun and are very drought-tolerant, requiring only minimal water. They are also highly resilient and not susceptible to most common plant problems, making them suitable for a wide range of landscape and decorative applications.

They can be grown indoors with adjustments for light and temperature.
