Bignonia capreolata, 'Tangerine Beauty' or Tangerine Beauty Crossvine, is a rapidly growing self-clinging vine that adds prolific Summer color to the garden. This vine is a perfect choice for large areas where it can climb freely, adding cover and texture with its compound foliage as it spreads. The Tangerine Beauty variety is renowned for its tight clusters of vibrant red-orange, nectar-rich, tubular flowers that are attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds, and a wide range of other pollinators. It is every bit as showy and prolific bloomer as any cultivated exotic plant, so many gardeners are frequently surprised to learn it is native throughout the southeastern US from Missouri to Eastern Texas to Florida to Maryland to southern Illinois.

Bignonia capreolata is a versatile and easy-to-grow vine. It thrives in full sun but tolerates moderate shade with minimally slowed growth. However, bloom is reduced in direct proportion to decreases in available light. It prefers rich, porous, well-draining soil with high organic content but will grow and thrive in sandy soil where few natural nutrients are available with minimal supplemental feeding. These characteristics make Tangerine Beauty Crossvine the perfect choice for fence plantings or quick cover unsightly features.

This vine enters a dormant resting phase in all climates. Zones 6 & 7, and 8A, where it may lose most or all the foliage through the winter months as it rests and stores energy for blooming in the Spring. It is usually evergreen in Zones 8B and 9 but leaves become sparse and darken in color, and little new growth is produced during the resting phase.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
