The Tropical Hibiscus Tahitian Maid is an old and uncommon hybrid tropical hibiscus cultivar that is not available in mainstream commercial nursery production.

It is a showy bloomer, but grows a little slower than the average tropical hibiscus and tends to flower sparingly until it matures.

This trait makes it a very good choice for small areas or for porch and patio pots.

Unfortunately it also means that despite its pretty, delicate flowers, commercial growers never gave it much notice, passing it over in favor of cultivars that can be brought to market much faster.

The flowers of Tahitian Maid are medium sized, delicate, open classic pinwheel hibiscus singles that speak to a long lost and forgotten tropical island ancestry.

The deep ruby throat of the blossom pinwheels out into thin, delicate arching petals into an almost translucent shade of pale pearl and pastel pink.

The flowers are short lived, lasting only a day or two at most and open flat on the first day and then begin to arch backward. Tahitian Maid tends to bloom in cycles throughout the warm season rather than random individual flowers and buds. It takes a few seasons to mature before reaching its full potential.

Take care not to over crowd or over water.

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant w/ 4 inch diameter root zone. Plant will be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall and unlikely to have bloom or bud at the time of shipping. May be shipped bare, wrapped root ball w/o pot.
