Aristolocia gigantea or Giant Dutchman's Pipevine or Pelican Flower is a unique, fast growing, semi tropical vine with large, oddly shaped, purple and cream mottled flowers with a bright yellow vortex. It is one of most popular of the more than 500 different cultivars of this strange species. It is a fast growing, twining climber. When the odd buds have fully opened, the yellow mouth of the flower leads to a long canal that can be described as more suggestive of animal anatomy than plant.

This unique plant actually tricks flying insects into doing the critical pollination work necessary for it's reproduction. The flowers have a sweet, lemony scent that is irresistible to insects.The next day the flower stops producing the attractive scent, releases pollen on its captive, and the hairs relax to allow the insect to escape.

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant growing and shipped in a 4 inch diameter plastic pot.
