Scarlet Flame is a well-known and popular Passiflora hybrid cross from Passiflora vitifolia x Passiflora coccinea that is a vigorous, lush, dense-growing tropical vine that produces a profusion of the unusual hallmark flowers that are unique to the species in bright, scarlet, blood red throughout the warm season. The flowers are lightly fragrant and attractive to hummingbirds and a wide variety of pollinators. However, we recommend serious butterfly hobbyists do their research when selecting passion vines, as some sources recommend against planting the reds depending on location and the species that are typically present in the environment.

It is a vigorous large large-growing vine that requires a large space and regular pruning after flowering to maintain size and control sprawling into areas where it is not wanted.
