Kniphofia uvaria is a species of flowering plant believe to be native to Africa. It is also known as tritomea, torch lily, and red hot poker, due to the shape and color of the large, showy red orange and yellow flower spike.

It is a large growing perennial with spiked lily like leaves and grows in a large grass like clump that will mature at about 3-5 feet tall and equally wide. One of it's best uses is to define corners and boundaries to provide a very pretty, interesting and showy eye catching feature with the added benefit of providing a food source and safe haven for pollinators and birds.
The bloom cycle is long, beginning in early summer and continuing until first frost.

Red Hot Poker is cold tolerant with a recommended Zone Range of 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. For the best results plant early in the season.
