Pye Baby Joe Butterfly Weed Eupatorium dubium Starter Size Live Plant

Note, plants are currently entering their winter dormant phase, so expect some spotting and discoloration of the foliage and for most leaves to drop post delivery. This is not a sign of damage, but the normal state for this time of year. Plants will awaken and begin growing in the Spring.

Eupatorium or Joe Pye Weed has been a long standing wildflower favorite for attracting pollinators for decades, and it's great for that use when you have lots of space to work with. A group of about 5 species of tall growing deciduous perennials that are native to North America that produces long lasting dense crown of tiny filament topped flowers ranging in color from purple mauve to white.

The size problem is solved by a patented version (PP20320) introduced a few years ago. Baby Joe or Little Joe has all the same characteristics, it just grows smaller and more compact. It matures at about 30 inches and is about as low maintenance and easy care as plants get. They benefit from light pruning often, but don't require it. They can be pruned in the early Fall in hopes of stimulating another bloom cycle before the first frost knocks them back for the winter or pruned down to about 6 to 8 inches if preferred.

This is a selected non invasive cultivar, with most of the same characteristics as the native version and can be used similarly.. This is a patented plant that is only distributed thru channels licensed by the patent holder. All other propagation, resale or distribution is prohibited by law.
