Anderson Crepe Tropical Heirloom Hibiscus Tree Plant Collectors Favorite Starter Size 4 Inch Pot

Hibiscus rosa seninsis or Tropical Hibiscus are a large species of flowering, tropical shrubs with perhaps the largest number of bloom color variations of any plant, as there are literally thousands. Some are tough, resilient plants suitable for various landscape uses, and others are delicate hothouse prizes not for novice gardeners.

Anderson's Crepe belongs to the first group, as it is tough, resilient, easy to grow, and very well suited for use in the outdoor landscape in the tropics and semi-tropics. It is an old heirloom early hybrid that has remained popular over several decades. It is most frequently grown in standard tree form, trained to form a lollipop weeping head atop a strong single trunk. The fast, upright growth habit and long, flexible 'weeping' branches lend themselves well to this application.

In addition to its dramatic weeping growth habit, Anderson's Crepe is most prized for its prolific, long-lasting, showy flowers. These medium-sized pinwheel-shaped singles are bright, clear, solid pink with a darker rose-pink throat. The blooms are born on the terminal ends of the flexible branches and are present in heavy cycles throughout the warm season.

It is most frequently grown in a single-trunk patio standard tree form but can also be used as a large, upright, multi-stemmed shrub. It makes an excellent boundary or privacy hedge in bush form.
