Lady Baltimore Hibiscus moscheutos Heirloom Perennial Live Plant XLarge Pastel Pink Summer Bloom Temperate Climates Starter Size 4 Inch Pot

'Lady Baltimore' is a perennial type of Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos) and a long-standing favorite among gardeners across a wide range of climates. Its produces large pastel pink plate sized flowers, and can be grown across a much wider range of climates than Tropical Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa senensis). The recommended USDA Zone Range is 5 to 9, although many gardeners in Zones 4 and 10 report having grown them successfully.

This plant grows as an upright, well-branched, bushy herbaceous perennial. This means well established plants grow quickly during the warm season, reaching an average 3 to 5 feet in height. They produce flowers in mid to late summer to early fall and then go fully dormant following the first frost. Perennial Hibiscus die back to the ground each winter and regrows from the roots in the spring.

The most striking feature of 'Lady Baltimore' is its large, satiny pale pink flowers with slightly ruffled, overlapping petals, that can range in tone from clear pastel pink to a purple tinged mauve with a deep cherry red to burgundy center (eye-zone) that provides a stunning contrast. The flowers are often described as "dinner-plate' sized, are attractive to a wide variety of pollinators. Fortunately, they are not especially attractive to deer.

The size of the flowers, quick growth and easy care provide dramatic tropical looking pop to any landscape. Plant them in full sun in mixed perennial beds as backgrounds, anchors, or transitions border or as specimen and focal points. Its size and showy flowers make it a dramatic addition to landscapes. It can also be used in large containers, near water gardens or ponds, or as a temporary hedge.
