Crossandra infundibuliformis, or Firecracker Flower, is an award-winning garden choice for its easygoing nature and vibrant peach-orange flowers. During the warm season, Crossandra appears to continually boast bright, asymmetric, clustered flowers in shades of apricot, orange, and peach. An incredibly versatile plant, Firecracker Flower will thrive in areas with dappled shade to those with bright light.

Firecracker Flower can be a bit of a misnomer for this plant, as the name actually has nothing to do with its flower. Near the end of the season, Crossandra will develop seed pods that grow until full and then explode to shower the surrounding area in seeds on a warm, windy day. The prolific reproduction method makes Crossandra ideal for areas where self-seeding is a benefit. However, seed pods may be pruned away before ripening to prevent unwanted seedlings from sprouting.

Care: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil or potting media in full sun to light shade. Water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture, but avoid overwatering. Overly saturated plants will become spotted, weak, thin, and fail to flower as expected. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer with the initial planting and annually in spring thereafter. Prune after flowering to control size, shape, and remove seed pods.

Indoor Growing: Crossandra can be grown indoors, but modifications such as higher temperatures and/or supplemental lighting may be necessary for flowering indoors.

Climate: Crossandra is a tropical plant and is recommended for growing in USDA Zones 9, 10, and 11. Protection from cold temperatures is required in all zones for the longest life, best appearance, and earliest flowering. Note that Zone recommendations are based on average temperatures and do not take factors such as humidity, rainfall, or day/night temperature variations into consideration. Every growing environment has unique challenges

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.

Plants are guaranteed to arrive in healthy, viable condition. This warranty is contingent upon the Seller receiving prompt notification of any issues or concerns with the plant\'s condition or appearance.
