Tacca chantrieri or Black Bat Flower brings an element to mystery and elegance to any space with its unusually formed flowers and dark color. Aptly name, Bat Flower's blooms uniquely mimic the form of a small bat in flight. Large purple to black bracts extend above the main cluster of deep purple flowers to form wings while whisker-like bracteoles hang up to 10 inches below the flower. Black Bat Plant's rare ability to produce curiously shaped flowers in deep shade make it a highly coveted indoor specimen.

Bat Flower is known for being difficult to cultivate, so it is not an ideal choice for inexperienced growers. This plant will be happiest in conditions similar to those orchids are grown in. Black Bat Flower will be well worth the extra work when it begins to flower from late Summer to Fall in warm climates. While this plant can be grown indoors year-round in cold climates, transport through Winter temperatures can result in damage.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size.
