Pitcher Nepenthes ventricosa Unusual Indoor Shade Carnivorous Life Plant Red Pitchers Starter Sz 4

Nepenthes ventricosa is a Highland type of Pitcher Plant that is native to the Philippines. It isa somewhat small growing bushy plant whose pitchers vary in structure, color, and shape. Color ranges from green to various shades of pink, the pitchers may be oblong or bellied at the bottom or have a wider mouth or more pronounced lip.

Pitcher Plants are an interesting group of carnivorous plants typically found in poor, infertile soils and growing on trees where nutrition is scarce. They developed the ability to attract and trap insects in the 'pitchers' and digest them to supplement their diet.

Pitcher Plants should be grown potted and can be in an outdoor area protected from direct sun in the warmer months or indoors as an interesting house plant. However, some modifications in the indoor growing environment may be required, such as increased humidity and temperature.

Care: Pot in loosely packed sphagnum and peat moss. Use distilled or rainwater only; media should be kept consistently moist, not soggy. Provide bright, indirect light for best pitchering. Maintain temperature between 55°F to 65°F* at night and 70°F and 75°F during the day. Avoid chilling or overheating.

Indoor Growing: One of a small number of tropical plants that actually prefers average indoor temperatures between 65°F at night and 75°F during the day. Provide bright, indirect light and consistent moisture in the growing media, and be rewarded with awesome, colorful, bug-catching pitchers.

Climate: Tropical highland type climate; tolerant of a wide range of tropical conditions, but best temp range: 65∘-85°F day, 55∘-65∘65°F night. USDA Zones 10-12 must be protected from chilling, frost, and freezing.
