Alocasia reginula or Black Velvet Elephant Ear is an unusual species that belongs to an exclusive group of plants with nearly black leaves. These small statured plants top out at around 12 inches in height, but still manage to catch the eyes of onlookers with their exotic foliage. Dark black to purple leaves are accentuated by a silvery sheen, soft texture and high contrast white veins.
