Abelia grandiflora 'Francis Mason' is a selected cultivar of Glossy Abelia that is well known for providing landscape interest year-round. It originated as a sport at Mason Nurseries in New Zealand in the 1950s. Francis Mason Abelia produces shiny foliage that ranges from golden yellow to bronze olive green as it grows quickly into a compact 4 x 4 ft. shrub. New foliage appears in shades of olive green to bronze and fades with maturity to vibrant golden yellow.

This plant is very resilient and does not require much skill to keep beautiful in the garden. Flowers begin to appear in late Summer, crystalline white with an occasional blush pink hue. Francis Mason Abelia will bloom well into November with tightly clustered small tubular blooms.

Francis Mason Abelia is an excellent addition to any pollinator garden. Flowers are lightly scented, long lasting, and attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Its mounding growth habit lends it to screen planting, hedges, and potted displays.

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant growing and shipped in a 4 inch diameter plastic pot. Plant will be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall and unlikely to have bloom or bud at the time of shipping.
