There are a few plants with the ability to provide an almost continuous bright, cheerful display with as little effort as the African Bush Daisy. The plant has a natural, round bushy growth habit requiring little pruning and is covered with bright yellow, five-petaled daisy-like flowers nearly daily from early spring until early winter in tropical climates.

Bush Daisy is a fast, robust grower that establishes quickly and has many versatile uses. It makes an excellent filler in mixed perennial beds, a striking, low-maintenance mass planting, or can be used as accents and outdoor porch and patio pots. The medium green, deeply serrated, lacy leaves provide nice contrast and texture, and are frequently used in cut arrangements. They are heat-tolerant and naturally resistant to most common plant problems.

Care: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil or potting media in full sun. Water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture, but avoid overwatering. Overly saturated plants will become spotted, weak, thin, and fail to flower as expected. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer with the initial planting and annually in spring thereafter. Prune after flowering to maintain size and shape.

Indoor Growing: The Bush Daisy plant will grow indoors, but modifications such as increasing light level, temperature, and humidity are usually necessary for it to bloom indoors. It is a tropical plant, and the constant 70°F range of the average indoor growing space is quite cool for tropical plants. Growing outdoors and bringing inside briefly to enjoy blooms is likely a better strategy than year-round indoor growing.

Climate: African Bush Daisy is a semi-tropical plant and is recommended for growing in USDA Zones 8B - 9, 10, and 11. Protection from cold temperatures is required in all zones for the longest life, best appearance, and earliest flowering. Note that Zone recommendations are based on average temperatures and do not take factors such as humidity, rainfall, or day/night temperature variations into consideration. Every growing environment has unique challenges.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
