Strelitzias, commonly called, Birds of Paradise, are large growing perennials that provide a tropical feel to any landscape and catch the eyes of onlookers when flowering. They are one of the most favorite and popular tropical flowers. The plant grows a clump of broad banana like leaves in deep gray green, and reach a mature height of about 3 feet.

Orange Bird of Paradise produces incredibly unique, beautiful blooms. The unique and usual bird shaped flowers have become a hallmark synonymous with all things exotic and tropical. The most recognizable and widely grown flower is comprised of golden orange petals with vivid blue and purple spathes and accent petals. It is also commonly known as the Crane Flower. Plants frequently require an extended period of time from a few months to a few years to reach their full blooming potential, but are well worth the wait.

Locate in mature plants in full sun to lightly dappled shade. Plant in fertile, well draining soil or media with a high organic content and slightly acid ph. Feed a high-quality, slow-release bloom boosting fertilizer with the intial planting and annually in Spring thereafter.

Birds of Paradise can be grown successfully indoors, but may require significant modifications such added light, warmer temperatures with a day/night differential, and increased humidity to produce flowers indoors.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
