Brugmansias, or Angels Trumpets grow up into large multi stemmed tree like bushes. The bloom is very unique and showy, and they are very interesting and rewarding to grow and attract a wide variety of night time pollinators, including Luna Moths.

They generally flower in cycles lasting a few weeks, several times each year. The flowers are with large trumpet-shaped blooms that hang upside down and are highly fragrant at night,t and lend a very romantic, elegant look and feel to any garden. The fragrance peaks at night, so near the pool, patio, porch, or any other area where you spend time outdoors in the evening is a good placement.

Versicolor is an old hybrid cross that is a large, upright, open-growing bush bearing large peach colored trumpets with white throats that hang at about a 15º to 30º angle. The flowers begin as a pale pastel yellow that changes to white, then pale peach pink, to finish a darker shade of peach to pink.

Care: When mature, plant in fertile, well-draining soil or potting media in full sun to lightly shad. Water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture, but avoid overwatering. Overly saturated plants become spotted, weak, thin, and fail to flower as expected. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer initially and repeat annually in spring. Prune after flowering to control size and shape.

Indoor Growing: This tropical plant grows large, requires the full spectrum of light 4 to 6 hours daily, high humidity, and warm temperatures with at least 10°F day/night differential, so it is not well-suited for the average indoor growing space.

Climate: Mandarin Hat is a tropical plant and is recommended for growing in USDA Zones 9, 10, and 11. Protection from cold temperatures is required in all zones for the longest life, best appearance, and earliest flowering. Note that Zone recommendations are based on average temperatures and do not consider factors such as humidity, rainfall, or day/night temperature variations. Every growing environment has unique challenges.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival.
