Brugmansias are large semi-tropical tree-like shrubs native to South America. The common name Angels Trumpet comes from the large elongated trumpet-shaped flowers that cover the plant several times yearly. Most are intensely fragrant at night.

Few plants offer uniqueness, beauty, and fragrance with such little gardening effort. There are thousands of hybrids.

Most Brugmansias will reach a mature height of around 10 ft to 12 ft tall with equal or larger spreads. They are typically grown as large multi-trunked, branched shrubs, but they can be trained to grow as single-trunked standard trees as well.

Mango Crush matures at the top end of this range, depending on climate, has a full, branching habit, and is a profuse and reliable bloomer.

The flowers open as pastel yellow and darken through different tones of sunset colors over several days to finish in as bright mango orange. The flowers are large, long-whiskered, nodding singles, and have a light, sweet scent.

Mango Crush was hybridized by Susie French, registered in 2004.

The best location for Angles Trumpets is one that receives the full spectrum of cool morning light and is lightly shaded in the afternoon. They can be grown in full sun with careful attention to irrigation., but the foliage is smaller and paler in color, and they bloom less often. They are often grown outside of their recommended Zone Range and over-wintered indoors, but they do not adapt easily to indoor conditions, so special accommodations such as supplemental lighting, humidifiers, and higher-than-average temps are often required for success.
