Microsorum musifolium or Alligator Fern is a particularly attractive fern known for its ability to add a tropical feel to low light areas. These ferns are aptly named as their dark veining creates a pattern on their elongated leaves that resembles alligator scales. Crocodile print takes on a sophisticated air as these ferns grow densely up to 5 feet in diameter with delicate protruding fronds.

As with most ferns when grown indoors, Alligator fern requires a high humidity environment with low light. Areas of the home such as the kitchen and bathroom may provide sufficient humidity, but these ferns could occasionally need misting to avoid drying out. As they grow in a clumped form Crocodile plant can be displayed in a hanging basket or large pot that can sustain its weight.
