Colocasia gigantea or Giant Elephant Ear is an heirloom classic. Our gardens have been graced by the massive leaves of this tropical plant for as long I can remember. It can be seen peeking out from shaded undergrowth or standing tall in bright sunlight. When this plant reaches maturity, its 3 to 4 ft. long leaves make for a pleasantly shaded respite on hot summer days.

Giant Elephant Ear is a true Southern garden wonder, thriving wherever it is placed in frost free climate though it will grow to its full capacity most quickly in light shade and damp soil. This huge plant works well in borders and can be grown as a large potted specimen.

Colocasias are best known for their versatility and ability to add a jungle-like tropical feel to the landscape. Plants in this species can be used to anchor and accent water bog gardens up to 6 inches deep.

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant growing and shipped in a 4 inch diameter plastic pot. Plant will be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall and unlikely to have bloom or bud at the time of shipping.
