The Wild Allamanda is an old plant that has become curiously new again as features like drought tolerance and longevity have become more important to gardeners. It is popping up in many unique landscape applications such as roof top gardens, and as ground cover on embankments in addition to the traditional uses for vines such as trellises and fences.

Differences of opinion exist as to whether this plant is an allamanda, mandavilla, dipladenia or something else altogether. It is referenced under at least 3 botanical names (Urechites lutea, Vinca lutea, Pentalion luteum).

The Wild Allamanda is a quick growing tendriled vine with dense glossy deep green foliage. The prolific neon yellow bell shaped flowers are present almost year round in the tropics.

In sub tropical zones it will bloom reliably from mid to late June to mid October. It is very drought tolerant once it is well established, and will withstand a fair degree of neglect.
