Turnera subulata or Key West Buttercup is an exciting take on the classic tropical Buttercups seen throughout the Caribbean and Southern US. This cultivar is differentiated by its pale butter yellow to cream blooms accented by a vibrant yellow throat that fades to brown. It is moderately salt tolerant and can be found naturally on and around beaches in Cuba.

While butterflies are not known to find white flowers very attractive, the dark center of Key West Buttercup's flowers draws attention and makes this plant a butterfly magnet when blooming. It will bloom most prominently through Summer though in the most tropical of climates it is considered a perpetual bloomer. It will grow quickly to reach 2 to 3 feet in height. Buttercups can spread quickly to cover spaces between other plants and add interest without threatening others in the landscape with an aggressive root system.

Frequent, light pruning will keep Key West Buttercup growing as a bushy, strong plant.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
