Medinilla myriantha is one of about 200 species of the genus. It is an relatively low growing, epiphytic, tropical, flowering shrub native to Africa, Asia and the Pacific Islands. It is commonly called Malaysian Grape Orchid as the end stage of the flower resembles a cluster of small grapes. In Australia it is called Pink Pixi.

The Malaysian Grape Orchid is a great choice for lightly shaded areas in a tropical garden or as an outdoor or indoor potted plant. The unusual flower and fbushy habit make it a versatile, interesting and rewarding plant to grow.

The flowers begin in elongated sprays of small pink to lavender petals that gradually darken in color to shades of purple, and then close to form a pendulous cluster of small berry like nodules that hang among large elongated, rough textured, pointed leaves of medium moss to olive green. The bloom cycle takes several weeks to complete, and appears frequently year round. The berry/grape like bloom structures are not edible.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
