Dwarf Bush or Dwarf Brown Allamanda is an easy to grow small statured, bushy, variety of Allamanda that blooms nearly year round in tropical and sub-tropical climates and can be used in many versatile and interesting ways. It makes an excellent low flowering hedge, border, accent or background planting, and is great choice for outdoor potted plants for porch and patio.

It produces an bundance of bright, sunny, golden yellow, bell shaped blooms begining in mid Spring and lasting until mid-Fall. The low -growing, compact habit make it well suited for mixed perennial beds, pots and baskets. It is, however, less cold tolerant than other types, and should be protected from temperatures below 40 F.

Dwarf Bush Allamanda grows and thrives with a minimal care and attention. It has many versatile uses in a warm climate landscape . Quick growth rate and bloomability make it well suited as a filler, border or in mixed perennial beds, or in pots, planters or baskets in cooler climates.

Allamandas are not well suited for indoor growing. The require the full spectrum of direct, bright light for 6 to 8 hours daily, warm temperatures with a day/night differential, high ambient humidity and careful attention to avoid overwatering during winter dormancy.

Grower Note: This Allamanda was introduced into the tropical landscape market in the early to mid-1990's. So far as we know, its origins and parentage are unknown. Some believe it to be a select cultivar of either Allamanda cathartica (Golden Trumpet Vine) or Allamanda schottii (Bush Allamanda), while others point to the carmel bronze buds as evidence it is more closely related to Allamanda hendersonii (Brown Bud Allamanda). We can see the characteristic that support either choice, but will leave the final decision on that to the experts.
