Tangerine Dream is an old heirloom tropical hibiscus hybrid of unknown origins. It is a resilient, tropical landscape type that is suitable for inground planting in a tropical landscape and is a profuse, cyclical bloomer. The flowers are showy, medium-sized classic hibiscus singles, with rounded overlapping petals in a bright golden tangerine shade of yellow-orange, with a rose red eye. It is believed to have originated as a spontaneous genetic mutation from JoAnn. The Hibiscus rosa-sinensis species is prone to developing such mutations, called 'sports'.

The plant grows fast and vigorously, and has a strong, sturdy, resilient root system. It matures into a tall, somewhat open, bush cloaked in medium-glossy green, rounded oval leaves with a slightly scalloped edge. The branches are long and remain flexible, creating a slight weeping effect. Tangerine Dream has many versatile uses in a tropical landscape. It can be mass planted as a tall flowering hedge, used as a background or transitional anchor in mixed perennial beds, as a stand-alone specimen plant, or as a potted plant.

It is a rewarding, easy-to-grow plant that requires little maintenance beyond regular pruning for shape, routine feeding, irrigation, and protection from cold.

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant w/ 4 inch diameter root zone. Plant will be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall and unlikely to have bloom or bud at the time of shipping. May be shipped bare, wrapped root ball w/o pot.
