Safrano is an old heirloom garden rose that is a great grand parent of many other famous roses and is considered by some rose experts to be the first rose successfully produced by hand pollination. It was introduced in France in 1839 by the French rose breeder Beauregard.

It demonstrates the best qualities of early China Roses. It has scrolled, classic pointed tea buds that open to large 3 inch multi layered blooms in a soft palette in shades of saffron, apricot, cream yellow, gold, and blush pink. In the spring the new growth is a gorgeous deep plum/bronze color that is a very attractive contrast with the apricot flowers.

True to its China heritage, the Safrano Rose has a strong classic rose scent of tea, is a perpetual bloomer, and has a high degree of natural disease and nematode resistance.. It will grow and thrive across a wide variety of soil and climate conditions.

This rose is a show stopper in mass plantings, makes a dandy tree form standard or a stand alone specimen

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
