Strelitzia reginea or Birds of Paradise is one of the most favorite and popular tropical flowers.

The unique and unusual bird shaped flowers have become a hallmark synonymous with all things exotic and tropical.
Mandellas Gold is particularly striking and unusually colored Bird of Paradise cultivar was developed at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens in Africa and released in 1994.

Although spontaneous genetic mutations of the orange top were sometimes seen, other types that cropped up in France, California, Japan and in other South African Botanical Gardens were isolated specimens that were genetically unstable and could not be successfully reproduced.

This variety, named in honor of Nelson Mandela, dependably produces large golden yellow petals with vivid blue and purple spathes and accent petals. The plant has broad banana like leaves in deep gray green, and reaches a mature height of about 3 feet .

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant growing and shipped in a 4 inch diameter plastic pot.
