The flowers are beautiful, showy doubles with a slightly ruffled edge, and very dense, tight doubled, and sometimes triple layers petals, which accounts for the common nick name Carnation. The flowers are vivid, neon, fuchsia to salmon pink with the long yellow stamens that are the hallmark of tropical hibiscus, protruding from darker maroon red throats.

Pride of Hankins is easy to grow and quick to establish. It blooms in cycles of profuse flowers rather than the scattered perpetual habit of some other landscape types.
The plant needs time to become well established before reaching its full glory when flowering, but the spectacular show is well worth the wait.
