Arabian Jasmines (Jasminum sambac) are a group of tropical plants native to tropical Asia, prized for their exceptionally strong and sweet fragrance. Unlike many other jasmines, they cold sensitive and have different growth habit and leaf structure, and are prized for their highly fragrant pure white waxy flowers ranging from large, multi-layered doubles to simple five-petaled singles.

The Grand Duke of Tuscany is one of the most popular and highly sought after plants of the Jasminum sambac species. It produces intensely fragrant, very tight, dense doubles typically about 3 inches in diameter, and resembling small roses or camellias in a long bloom cycle begining in early summer and lasting until mid-Fall. The flowers are a popular choice for bridal bouquets and corsages.

Flowers are borne near the terminal ends of branches on a moderately slow-growing, small, upright, somewhat open growing shrub with glossy green oval leaves arranged in pairs. The plant prefers light shade and can grown indoors as a house plant. However modifications are typically required to produce flowers. Makes a wonderful commemorative gift, and is a great choice when something special is wanted for a gardener of any skill level.

Grand Duke of Tuscany is tropical and very sensitive to cold temperatures. Exposure to temperatures below 5
0*F frequently results in dropping of leaves and buds and a slow down of growth. Plants enter a natural semi-dormant resting phase in winter in all climates regardless of indoor or outdoor placement. Recommended for outdoor growing in Zones 9B, 10 and 11 with cold protection.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
