The Miami Supreme Gardenia was developed for the tropical landscape a few decades ago with the goal of a developing a large flowering Gardenia with a higher degree of heat tolerance for Zones 10 and 11. The plant that resulted was a resounding sucess. Miami Supreme bears large, fragrant flowers and has become one of the most popular and best-loved gardenias generally, but especially for applications in more tropical zones where others struggle with summer heat.

Large, fat buds begin to appear en masse in the late Spring , opening slowly into large doubled blooms for several weeks to months, depending on climate. It is also noted for its 'free flowering' habit, meaning that it blooms appear throughout the blooming season rather than in cycles within the season.

Miami Supreme is less cold tolerant than others and was once believed to require grafting onto nematode-resistant rootstock. However, over time this has proved to be wrong, as it will grow and live a nice, long, happy life on its own roots with good care.

When in flower, the limbs make beautiful long-lasting cut flowers. The classic, elegant flowers are excellent choices for corsages and bridal bouquets.

Growers Note: Gardenias are notoriously difficult to grow indoors. They are best grown outdoors and brought indoors for a short time when blooming.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.
