🌷 Hemerocallis, commonly known as the Day Lily, is a genus primarily native to Eastern Asia, comprising approximately 20 distinct species that have formed the basis of the nearly 100,000 cultivars and hybrids cultivated worldwide as ornamental plants.

Day Lilies are versatile, very easy to care for, and can thrive in almost all but the most brutal and extreme climates. They require only basic care and little maintenance, and can adapt and grow in many less-than-optimum environments, such as poor, dry soils, slopes and banks, as well as urban, paved environments where other plants struggle.

'Simplice' is an old, dwarf, reblooming variety of unknown parentage. Our original stock plants were gifts from a colleague in the mid-1980s. While we don't know much about its background, we can confirm it is amazingly easy to grow and will tolerate significant neglect. Soft, elegant, mauve-purple, with bright yellow throats, begin to appear in early summer and continue until early to mid-fall, depending on climate.

❤ Care: Daylilies perform best in full sun to very light partial shade, needing a minimum of 6 hours of bright, direct light for optimal flower production. Fewer blooms will result from diminishing light. They are versatile, suitable for borders, mixed perennial beds, mass plantings, or outdoor pots. Plant in fertile, well-draining soil and water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture. Feed annually with a good-quality, all-purpose fertilizer.

🏡 Indoor Growing: Daylilies are sometimes grown indoors, but require an extraordinary degree of care, planning, and modifications to provide adequate light and an appropriate range of temperature differentials to produce flowers. Since flowers are short-lived, only lasting a single day, the reward vs the work required is not justified for most gardeners.

🌡Climate: The general recommended ranges for Daylilies span nearly all Zones: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. However, not all varieties can be grown in all Zones. Ming Toy performs best in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, with plants requiring extra care and attention in the colder and warmer margins.

Condition: One (1) Well rooted, starter size plant growing (not a bare root bib) and shipped in a 4 inch diameter plastic pot. Plant will be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall and unlikely to have bloom or bud at the time of shipping
