Rubus niveus, or the Mysore Raspberry, is one of only a few Raspberry plants that produce fruit in warm climates. It was popular in the 1950s and 60s, but became largely ignored as public interest in growing home gardens waned. Fortunately, that interest in returning and has prompted a rediscovery of this easy-to-grow source of sweet, delicious, and nutritious raspberries.

The Mysore Raspberry is a vigorous-growing caning bush with significant curved thorns. It requires scant chill hours to produce small to medium-sized red to black fruits throughout the year. However, it has the largest yield shortly after its most prominent blooming period in late winter to early spring.

To have the largest fruit yield, water these bushes very regularly and supply a 4-8-4 or 4-7-5 NPK fertilizer every two to three weeks.

Ts. Trimming some of the Mysore Raspberry canes (limbs extending from the bush) to ground level is common and can limit thick growth that makes harvest difficult. The thorns of this raspberry bush are meant to protect the fruit of the plant from animals in nature, but can serve the dual purpose of deterring humans when planted strategically.

Condition: One (1) well-rooted, starter-size plant with an approximate 4-inch-diameter root zone. Plant will be a minimum of about 6 to 12 inches tall and have no blooms or buds on arrival.
