Esperanza Gold Star Yellow Bells Flower Attracts Butterfly Hummingbird Tropical Live Plant Starter Sz 4 Inch Pot

Tecoma stans or Gold Star Esperanza, is an award-winning, showstopping perennial that is known for both its long-lasting, vibrant flowers and butterfly attractant qualities. These plants are adorned with clusters of trumpet-shaped, bright yellow flowers from April to November in warm climates, and add interest when not blooming with interesting serrated leaves.

Nectar-rich yellow blooms serve as an attractant to butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Plant Yellow Bells in butterfly gardens to provide nectar well into Late Fall when many other plants are no longer blooming. These heat-tolerant qualities and extended bloom time make Esperanza into a true star of any garden.

Gold Star Esperanza grows to a large bush when allowed to grow freely, topping out at 8 feet in nature. These plants can be grown successfully as potted ornamentals, though they will need a large pot to thrive.

Care: When mature, plant in fertile, well-draining soil in full sun to very light afternoon only shade. Water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture, but avoid overwatering. Overly saturated plants will be spotted, weak, thin, and fail to flower as expected. Feed a good quality, slow-release, bloom-boosting fertilizer initially and repeat annually in spring. Prune after flowering to control size and shape. Avoid pruning during the semi-dormant winter resting phase.

Indoor Growing: This plant grows large and requires the full spectrum of light for 4 to 6 hours daily, high humidity, warm temperatures, and a period of mild chilling during winter dormancy to produce flowers, so it is not well-suited for the average indoor growing space.

Climate: This is a tropical plant and is recommended for growing in USDA Zones 9, 10, and 11. Protection from cold temperatures is required in all zones for the longest life, best appearance, and earliest flowering. Note that Zone recommendations are based on average temperatures and do not consider factors such as humidity, rainfall, or day/night temperature variations. Every growing environment has unique challenges.

Condition: This product is one (1) young, starter-sized plant intended for a gardener to grow to its mature size. You may expect a starter-size plant to be well-rooted, have a root zone of approximately 4 inches in diameter, be a minimum of about 6 to 8 inches tall, and have no blooms or buds on arrival. It may be shipped with or without a pot, as appropriate.

Plants are guaranteed to arrive in healthy, viable condition. This warranty is contingent upon the Seller receiving prompt notification of any issues or concerns with the plant\'s condition or appearance.

This notification must be received within 24 hours of delivery and include in-focus photos that clearly show the plant issue, shipping box, and address label. No other additional, extended, or long-term warranty is expressed or implied.
